Frequently Asked Questions
How can I be sure that Radiology Affiliates Imaging contracts with my insurance provider and that a specific procedure will be covered by my plan?
Radiology Affiliates Imaging contracts with many insurance carriers. Depending on your employer, some procedures may not be covered by your health insurance plan. It is important that you contact your insurance carrier prior to scheduling an appointment, to confirm that the services will be covered.
What insurance information should I bring to my appointment?
Patients must present their current health insurance cards at the time of each appointment. This is vital to ensure proper billing.
Will Radiology Affiliates Imaging bill my insurance provider for me?
As a courtesy, Radiology Affiliates Imaging will submit charges to your insurance provider on your behalf. However, if we are unable to bill your insurance company due to incomplete or incorrect information, you are responsible for payment.
I recently had an imaging study at the local hospital. Why did I receive two bills for this one procedure – one from the hospital and one from Radiology Affiliates Imaging?
Radiology Affiliates Imaging staffs the radiology departments at these local hospitals: St. Francis Medical Center in Trenton, NJ; St. Mary Medical Center in Bucks County, PA.; Mercy Suburban Hospital in Norristown PA; Nazareth Hospital in Philadelphia, PA; and St. Francis Hospital in Wilmington, DE. In the hospital setting, billing for imaging exams involves two components, one technical and one professional. The technical component of the study, billed by the hospital, assesses charges associated with the radiology equipment (CAT Scan, MRI, or X-Ray machines), the technologists, and the general costs associated with operating a hospital. The professional component, billed by Radiology Affiliates Imaging, includes the work the physicians must do in supervising, interpreting, and reporting the results of the study.
